Hope this helps with this infuriating problem ! I've already had 3 crashes today already ! Also Alexander at seems to be aware of this issue too and may also be able to offer some guidance. Try and speak to Rajiv Arora - who will be clued up on this after our lengthy communication.

and opening a customer support / case ticket. If you need further details on this issue then I suggest utilising the Avid Customer Support Portal via your Avid Account / Application Manager 'front end'. So In summation - We are going to try and obtain a TB2 Card and go this route to see if this remedies the situation. Unfortunately, we have to do this autonomously at our expense however and also at the risk of this not actually solving the problem at all because as it stands both the engineers at Sonnet and Avid are now rushing to remedy this issue but neither can confirm as to when a solution will be found. Apparently this has now been deemed as 'incompatible' with our set up and it has been suggested that a solution (in our case) my be via acquiring a TB2 Card and inserting that into an additional slot of our Sonnet III Chassis and connecting that via a TB2 Cable to our iMac. Hi - Well after lengthy correspondence with Avid - It turns out that the AAE -6001 error is hardware specific and its suspected that the main culprit is the Sonnet III Express Chassis - but more specifically the 3 - slot TB3 Version. Many thanks in advance for your time and consideration guysĢ & 3 x Platinum Recording Engineer / Producer / MixerĬredits Include : Jake Bugg, The 1975, The Gaslight Anthem, The View, OMD, James, Amber Run, Lewis Watson etc. As mentioned I can't find any info on google about AAE Error -6001 and wondered if anyone could shed any light on why the iMac frequently crashes and hangs forcing me to 'Force Quit' via Activity Monitor and subsequently to re-start my machine - because as soon as this crash occurs and I have forced PT to quit - The application won't open without a re-start ! If anyone could shed any light on this - that would be amazing and I would be eternally grateful. but alas the new machine at work running the HD system crashes virtually every 5 minutes - especially when tracking - giving an AAE error -6001. Mine at home (although I use it principally for mixing) is rock solid and never crashes. The new iMac has been optimised re Avids list of prescribed tweaks and as it stands should be a 'flying machine based on its spec. Consequently - we have purchased a Sonnet PCIE TO THUNDERBOLT Chassis - in order to house the PCIE Card and allow us to connect PT HD Hardware to the new iMac via the Thunderbolt conversion. upgrading very recently to a Quad Core 4.2GHz iMac with 32 Gig of RAM.

So I use Pro Tools daily both as a Freelance Producer / Engineer / Mixer ( and for my 'in-house' day job at I always run the latest version of the Software - on both work and home rigs - my home set up is Native (Antelope Orion 32+) however works set up is HD. The error is an AAE Error -6001 and I can't find any info or reference to this on Google - so i'm stumped as to what's causing this error and associated frequent crashes.

Hi there - I'm hoping one of you lovely people can help me resolve an annoyingly persistent issue that is causing frequent crashes on one of my set ups.
